Welcome to my blog! So some people have asked me, what’s the best exercises or workout to gain muscle mass and power/strength? First thing I asked them is, what does your diet look like? That’s going to determine a lot. Your diet has to consist of high protein and medium to high carbs to handle the weight and to grow.
With their diet in place, I usually tell them to perform a 5×5 or an 8×8 workout. This workout consists of doing 5 reps for 5 sets of any given exercise. For example, I would tell them to perform a certain exercise, such as the deadlift, use a heavier weight than you would with your normal excerise workout. Perform 5 reps for 5 sets. Use a heavy weight that you can do to reach the 5 reps but it’s a little struggle. After the 5 sets move on to the next exercise such as the bench press. Do the same thing and then move on to the next one. I would recommend only performing about 4-5 different exercises. And only do this workout for ,no longer than 6-8 weeks max then take a week off to recover before going back to your regular workout routine. This particular workout is demanding on the body, and you have to give your body a chance to recover and rest.
The 8×8 workout is the same only you’re performing 8 reps with 8 sets. Because you’re doing more sets, your body needs time to recover and rest. Perform either one of these exercises about 3-4 days a week.
I hope this helps some people gain the mass and strength they need. These are great exercises that I have done before. I only did the 5×5 for about 4 weeks.
