Welcome to my blog! I am so glad you are here ready to receive more information in the land of fitness, nutrition, and health coaching. Today’s topic is more a Q & A for my business. So I have been asked a lot of questions about my business, what I do, what I offer, and how I can help that I decided to just do a Q&A about it and hopefully it will clear up some confusion, and explain a little of what exactly I do. So I am going to just dive right in and start with the most frequently asked questions. Please feel free to contact me and ask me anything else that I have not covered here that you would like to know.
Q&A #1
Who are you and why should I listen to you?
Good question. So I am a certified personal fitness and nutrition trainer, EMT, EKG Technician with a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Carolina and two associate degrees. I have over 20 years of combined service in the fire department and EMS. I created and chaired the Health and Safety Committee on one of the departments I worked at as well as served on numerous other committees that included fitness, health, wellness, and coaching. I have helped numerous people achieve their fitness goals.
Q&A #2
What achievements have you had over the years?
I have received numerous awards while in the fire service including Fireman of the year, two Chief awards for outstanding performance, and an award from the Mayor for dedicated and outstanding performance. I have won 1st place in a beach body competition and 6th place in a master’s physique competition. I used to be over 200 lbs. with 32% body fat and went down to 150 lbs. and 11% body fat. I have since increased my weight while keeping my body fat at a reasonable %.
Q&A #3
How can you help me?
Well, I can help you by lowering your body weight as well as your fat % by teaching you how to eat the right foods the right way while eliminating the bad foods and bad habits that you were once accustomed to. I can help you lower your stress level by providing you with the right workout and exercise plan to combat, not only stress, but increasing your energy level, strengthening your immune system, building a stronger heart among many other fantastic health benefits.
Q&A #4
Do you charge a lot?
No. My prices are lower than most personal trainers in the area. I keep my prices low so you can relax and concentrate on getting healthier and happier, not worrying about the cost. I offer a free consultation to see if I’m a good fit for what you are looking for and if my services match your goals. Plus I offer, as part of my package, e-mail and phone communication to keep you up to date and to see your progress. I include access to my Trainerize App (Trainerize.com) and provide step by step picture workouts so you know how to do each exercise. I offer for a small extra fee a nutrition plan to help with your journey. I provide numerous recipes, health articles, and tip & tricks to assist you along the way.
Q&A #5
Do you give back to your community or charity?
Yes. Iron Bug Fitness is immensely involved with the foster kids program called Together We Rise (which as of Feb. 1st I believe, they have changed their name to Foster Love). Right now we are running a special for every $50 donated to Foster Love I will personally train you for 1 month free (link in Iron Bug Fitness FB page). This special will be going on until at least June 1st. I have coached my daughter’s 4-5 soccer team and have taught at local schools. (As per the date I’m writing this it is still under https://www.togetherwerise.org)
Q&A #6
Why should I hire a health coach?
If you are serious about changing your lifestyle habits, a health coach can give you the tools you need to follow through and improve your nutrition, sleep, stress management, and physical activity. As a health coach I can help you with a broad variety of health issues, such as weight loss, stress reduction, improving diet and exercise, and adjusting to a life-altering health event, like a heart attack. A health coach is your personal health cheerleader, guide and partner. They help you implement lifestyle changes to improve your physical health.
Your doctor might recommend a health coach if you have a chronic health issue like diabetes. Or, you may hire a health coach to help you achieve a wellness goal like getting fit. Health coaches are experts on human behavior, motivation, and health. They are “partners” who help their clients set and achieve health goals and build new habits. Health coaches are among the most important healthcare partners. No other health profession has this unique skill set. Health coaching fills a critical gap in our healthcare system.
Well I hope this helps answer some questions that I have been asked and clears up some confusion as to why you need a personal trainer, health coach or someone to help you get in shape and change those bad habits. I’m sorry it was not the usual information that I have put out before but I felt like this was overdue and maybe it helped one person with taking that first step and contacting me or someone else so they can begin their journey on living a happier, healthier life.
Take Care, and remember, You only get one body……….Make the change!
Darren
