June Days of Awareness and Celebration

Welcome to my blog, Harmony Shift. I am glad you’re here. This is a good post of awareness and celebrations taking place in the month of June. I’m not usually up on all the years awareness and celebrations throughout each month, but this month I thought I would bring some events to your attention that I thought was a good idea. There are more than I thought this month, but they keep adding more and more every year. I am not exactly sure how they determine which awareness is in which month, but it seems that they make sense, (for the most part). Let’s dive right in and celebrate!

National day, week and even month now, observances have become an important part of our daily lives here in the U.S. and Canada. Many observances are honored or celebrated at home, at school and at work and are recognized on TV and social media. Some are even celebrated in retail stores across the country.

People choose to commemorate the day by sharing information on social networks. Others may attend parades to celebrate or attend lectures to become more educated on a particular cause. Other meaningful ways to recognize these special days is to raise/donate money or goods to nonprofits working to further their cause.

This pdf is a great calendar of some of the awareness and celebrations throughout the year. This might not be a complete list, but at least it gives you an idea of what each month celebrates and maybe you can find a cause to get involved in that you feel strongly about. This is a good idea to get outdoors, support a cause, and do something good in your community.

So, some of the awareness causes and celebrations in June are:

  1. PTSD Awareness Month
  2. Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month
  3. LGBTQ+ Pride Month
  4. Men’s Health Month
  5. Gun Violence Awareness Month
  6. Immigrant Heritage Month
  7. CPR and AED Awareness, National Safety Month
  8. Limb Loss Awareness Month
  9. National Migraine/Headache Month
  10. Animal Awareness Month
  11. Military Child Month
  12. Children’s Awareness Month
  13. Adopt a Cat Month
  14. African-American Music Appreciation Month
  15. National Returning Youth Month
  16. Great Outdoors Month
  17. Cataract Awareness Month
  18. National Steakhouse Month
  19. National Scleroderma Awareness Month
  20. Aphasia Awareness Month

Just to name a few! What? Where in the world did some of these awareness’s come from? Really? National Steakhouse Month! What is that? Adopt a Cat Month, really? Ok so, I’m screwed because I adopted my cat in January. Ok, so some of them, maybe the first 10-12 or so I can see and understand but the rest of them could be in any month of the year really. I don’t think they have to be in June. However, if you want to support one of these causes in June, I’m all for it. I think you should if it’s important to you. Maybe go see the movie “The Great Outdoors” with John Candy this month. It’s very funny and worth it! I love that movie. We can’t forget about National Fireworks Safety Month (which I thought would be in July), National Dairy Month, National Candy Month, Ice Tea Month, National Rose Month, National Lemon Month, National Frozen Yogurt Month…………..and the list goes on and on and on Here https://eventguide.com/mo/june.htm  Why?

Ok so National awareness months such as June, are dedicated to raising awareness about various crucial topics, from health conditions to social issues, to animals, to fruits. These awareness months can help rally support and share important stories, in return ultimately encouraging a deeper understanding of the issues that affect our daily lives.  Awareness months and their significant colors play a pivotal role in uniting communities across the country and inspiring advocacy. Whether it’s acknowledging the challenges of living with a particular health condition, (i.e., Alzheimer’s) or addressing social injustices (i.e., LGBTQ+), these awareness months empower people to make a difference.  Observances like Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and Sickle Cell Awareness Month help amplify stories and rally support for the kids who need it the most.

How You Can Help

If you’re wanting to help in any one or more of these causes and celebrations, I have a few ways that you can help. Some things you can do are start a fund raiser. Donate your birthday. Host a lemonade stand. Climb a mountain. You can do anything to raise money. By creating a fundraiser, you help amplify the mission to provide healthier futures for your community.  You can also donate money or time. Some organizations rely on your support to research better treatments and cures for people with life threatening diseases.  Your gift can also help support families facing a difficult diagnosis and treatment. You can also just spread the word. Word of mouth is sometimes the best form of advertising. Knowing you support a great cause will influence your friends and family to also get involved. Your voice can change the future for kids or adults facing illnesses. Increased awareness will help drive funding for research, treatment and care. Spread the word on social media if you have to.

I hope this helps to get out there and get involve in your community to help change the world! I know at least one or more of these causes and celebrations interests you in getting involve and doing some good in your community. This is part of self-care and feeling you’re making a difference.

I adopted a cat, and a dog. I support childhood hunger and foster kid organizations. I am a firm believer that if you feel strong enough about something you will make a difference. You can help in many ways, and you will feel better about yourself and feel good overall. It’s good for your mental health and a good way to show your kids to get involve as well.

Until next time.

Take care,
